So, I’m starting them: METAL PROBLEMS ILLUSTRATED.
That’s right “illustrated,” cuz we gonna be fancy as fuck. I may switch around the formats and/or styles for these, but the first is hand done because hand drawing CAN be fun. ALthough I need to get my arse on getting those skin tone Copic markers, since although the white DOES work for my pale skin, I want to have some realism for myself and other metal pale children.
Anyway, notes about this one: Though I used myself in this illustration, I only did so because this “metal problem” strikes quite a chord with me, even if I show myself smirking here. I actually got to hear it when I was suffering from really terrible depression. But that’s not the only reason it makes me mad - the fact is, that statements like these are bollocks, with little scientific backing. As a psychology student, I’d be silly to say that music can’t change your mood, but sillier to say that it can induce psychopathology. Experiences and a mindset of low self esteem make you depressed, not things like metal music. In fact, I feel my happiest listening to metal, and I’m sure you all do to. So yeah, that’s why this is a soapbox/portrait comic. Also, I hope no one thinks I’m fat shaming or anything since I made the antagonistic character larger; she’s just supposed to look like someone who looks bigger and scarier than me.
Also, should I start a separate blog for these? And please feel free to share your experiences on this matter!
